Identifying T Tauri stars using machine learning

T Tauri stars (TTS) are low-mass stars in pre-main sequence phase considered precursors to planetary systems. Classical TTS exhibit Hα line emission due to a circumstellar disk, while weak-line TTS display weaker Hα emission attributed to chromospheric activity. Their youth is indicated by the presence of LiI absorption line in their optical spectra. The Chinese Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) offers around 11 million of low-resolution spectra in its data release DR9. In this talk, we present our results on detecting and classifying TTS using machine learning techniques and LAMOST spectra.
