"My area of research is experimental high energy physics. I have participated in experiments E710 and E811 at Fermilab for diffractive processes studies, including measurements of proton antiproton total cross section at Tevatron energies. In the D0 experiment I have led the participation of our group in studies of elastic scattering and diffractive scattering. I have had the opportunity to help in the assembly and comissioning of the forward proton detectors and their electronics which is required in this kind of experiments. I have also contributed in studies such as trigger, event reconstruction, background and Monte Carlo simulations for diffractive events.
Currently our group is collaborating with the CMS experiment of the LHC accelerator, which I have the opportunity to lead. We participate in CMS in the groups for resistive plate chambers and in supersymmetry search. Currently our group has three PhD students, one postdoctoral fellow, three engineers and 3 professors. We are one of the groups that have helped to conform the GRID node Tier 3 at Universidad de Los Andes. We are also part of the MEDIPIX 3 collaboration at CERN laboratory, where we do research in biomedical imaging with the MEDIPIX detectors. " |
