GOA: Grupo de Óptica de los Andes (Andes Optics Group)

Is a student interdisciplinary chapter around study of light. Since its foundation in 2013 has been affiliated to the Optical Society of America (OSA) and now is looking to join at SPIE Group.

The GOA Group objetives are:

  • Perform pedagogical activities involving the academic community for outreach of the Optics.
  • Encourage the discussion of Optics to develop future research projects.
  • Attract new students from Physics and other programs to create interest in the study of the Optics. 

The GOA Group activities are:

  • Demostrative Experiments of Optics:

A week activity where a phenomenon or topic of Optics is shown to the general public.

  • Special Event:

The group is involved in events organized by the community and the GOA group itself. As an example of this kind of events we have “Laser Trap”, “Fluorescent Shadows”, and “Marathon of Optics”.

  • Expociencia:

Goa is involved in Expociencia (Biannual Event of Sciences) with a dedicated stand to the Optics, where are offered some workshops related to the topic of the event.

  • Outreach in Schools:
